This workshop provides an opportunity to review and apply the principles and techniques used in revising French-to-English translations and in coaching and giving feedback to junior translators.

Translators and revisers working from French into English.
Prerequisite
Participants should be revising French-to-English translations as part of their regular duties.

This workshop is conducted in English.
Learning objectives
At the end of the workshop, participants will better understand:
- the parameters of revision: accuracy, correctness, idiomatic and natural style, and adaptation to the end use of the translated text
- different types of revision: pragmatic revision, formative revision, interrevision, prerevision
- the appropriate degree of revision in different circumstances
- reference works helpful to the reviser
- revision techniques, including revision symbols and ways to approach the translation
- communication skills helpful in providing feedback to translators
