Technology and the future of language professions

The Bureau is looking to the future and is open to a number of emerging trends in the language professions. Technological progress and rapidly changing communications have already started to affect the range of services we offer. For example, we now translate tweets so that clients can communicate in both official languages on Twitter. We are also working on designing a fast and user-friendly translation application that will simplify communicating in both official languages among federal public servants.

Procurement reform

Our procurement reform is well underway. We have issued supply arrangements, and the new directory for translation in official languages is now up and running. A similar reform is underway for translation in foreign and Aboriginal languages and for interpretation. Consult Buying and Selling regularly to stay up to date on all developments.

The Translation Bureau is proud of the work it is doing to transform the way we do business and to work with the private sector. This is why we wanted to share with you this exciting career opportunity of Vice-President, Linguistic Services. If such a position interests you, consult the official poster.
