The Access to Information Glossary contains about 300 concepts obtained through the scanning of more than 80 documents. The scanned documents include the annual reports of the Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC) and the implementation reports of the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat.
The terms and phraseologisms that pertain to the enforcement of the Access to Information Act are listed in this glossary. The majority of terms listed are used by most federal institutions subject to the Act. Library science and privacy terms were also selected for their relevance.
The Access to Information Glossary is a convenient tool for anyone working in the access-to-information field. It is intended for access-to-information coordinators as well as translators and writers. It will help maintain linguistic consistency in the OIC and in federal institutions subject to the Access to Information Act.
The Glossary is available free of charge on the website of the Translation Bureau (Public Works and Government Services Canada). The glossary terms can also be found in TERMIUM Plus®, the Government of Canada's terminology and linguistic data bank.
