Nunavut Arctic College, Nunatta Campus (Iqaluit, Nunavut)
This glossary is one of a series produced by the Interpreter-Translator Program at Nunavut Arctic College, Nunatta Campus. It contains a trilingual series of terms common in social services and alcohol-drug counselling, with definitions in plain English. We believe it will be a useful tool for interpreter-translators and for counsellors working in the field.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank those whose hard work made this publication possible: Louise Akearok, Geela Giroux, Leetia Kilabuk, Melanie Paniaq, Rhoda Palluq, Alexina Kublu, Makee Kakkik, and Sally Mikijuk, for the Inuktitut; and Gordon McBride for the French translation.
At the end of this publication is a list of Inuktitut emotion terms, many of which are being forgotten. We hope this addendum, compiled by Alexina Kublu and Monica Ittusardjuat, will be helpful to interpreters and translators who may not be familiar with these terms.
