Increasingly often, generalist translators are asked to translate texts relating to computer science. This workshop teaches participants the basics for translating from English to French in the field of computer science and raises their awareness of the common mistakes and pitfalls.

Translators, revisers and other language professionals.

Prerequisite

The participants should be translating or revising documents from English to French as part of their regular duties.

Language

This workshop is conducted in French; however, the participants are welcome to use the official language of their choice.

Learning objectives

At the end of the workshop, the participants will be able to:
  • Explain certain key concepts in computer science (equipment, software, networks).
  • Avoid the pitfalls specific to computer science.
  • Choose reliable sources of terminology and confirm that the terms selected reflect common usage.
  • Adjust their writing style to this technical field.
