Payments to Contractors – Direct Deposit Now Mandatory

The Government of Canada is expanding the use of direct deposit and gradually eliminating the use of federal government cheques. It is now mandatory for all suppliers with current contracts to enrol for direct deposit.

This initiative supports the government's efforts to meet the targets in the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy, as it will reduce the government's paper consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Direct deposit is a secure, reliable and cost-effective way to make payments to Canadians.

New feature: Email notification of electronic payments

Government of Canada contractors registered in the direct deposit system are informed by email when payments are deposited in their accounts. In addition to providing details of the amount deposit, the notifications will indicate the invoices or credit notes applicable to payments as well as contact information.

This email notification service allows us to work in a faster-moving, more efficient paperless operating environment.

The Translation Bureau requests that all its contractors with current contracts enrol for direct depot. To do so, please contact Acquisitions and Directory Services by calling 1-855-997-3300 or by sending an e-mail to BTRepertoire.TBDirectory@tpsgc-pwgsc.gc.ca.
