Description

This activity gives the participant an opportunity to receive detailed feedback on the quality and appropriateness of his or her revision. The format varies according to the participant's expectations. Do you have trouble assessing the quality of a text? Would you like to provide better characterizations and justifications for your revisions? Are you told that you over-revise, and would you like to be more measured in your revisions? If so, this workshop is for you.

Open to

Anyone who revises English-to-French documents.

Prerequisite

The participant must have been spending at least half his or her time on revision for at least twelve months.

Language

This activity is conducted in French.

Learning objectives

At the end of the two-day skills review, the participant will be able to:

• take stock of the strengths and weaknesses in his or her translations
• devise practical ways to pursue his or her ongoing self-development

Method

• analysis by the trainer of recent revision samples
• readings and exercises selected in light of the participant's needs
• revision exercises
• discussion of pertinent topics such as degrees of revision, pitfalls, interpersonal relations, motivation, coaching, time management and recent reference material
