Harmonization in terminology is the process of aligning terms and definitions between languages or between language variants within a language (as opposed to the specification of terms and definitions). Harmonization is often achieved by recommendation rather than by the force of a standard.
Officialization is the process whereby an authoritative body selects a term, or more often a name, and confers it with an official status. The terms or names are associated with or come to represent the official body. For example, we have the official terms of the Olympic Games or the official names of government institutions.
