Réseau international de néologie et de terminologie CANADA (RINT)

Initially published in 1989, this dictionary was among the first projects designed by the Canadian component of the International Network for French Neology and Terminology (RINT) for the task of recording and disseminating newly coined French terms that express modern scientific thought and associated practices in the specialized literature of recently established disciplines. It describes the current terminology of artificial intelligence (AI), with particular emphasis on intelligent programs for natural language processing, expert system design, and knowledge representation and management by computer. Its intended users are French-speaking researchers, teachers and students active in this field, as well as technical writers, translators and conference interpreters who are called to disseminate AI-related knowledge or to reformulate its current discourse. The main terms are provided with French definitions, conceptual cross references and usage contexts extracted from a rich bibliography to be found at the end of this publication. They are accompanied by their French synonyms and by English equivalents extracted from English sources recorded in the same bibliography. The reader will also find an inverted English-French glossary of close to one thousand entries and a list of English and French acronyms and initialisms currently used in artificial intelligence.
